If you don’t know S_ _ _ from SHINOLA you need

a taste of Real Texas Cuisine

By Suzette Pennington Munson

If you have grown up in Texas you have heard this quote many times. But Today I want to introduce you to “SHINOLA TEXAS CAFE’ “.

I have truly missed a good Texas Home Cooking Café that knows how to do what I want to eat Spot On!! Top Notch! And Numero Uno!!

Sunday after church Doug and I drove down to Springtown to do something we had talked about for three years. We went to find Tommy and Robbin Frantom’s restaurant Shinola.

I know a lot of you have been down ther to eat and here’s hoping the rest of you will make the trip.

From the Décor (Western) to a Sunday Buffet that is Hot and Tasty, to that warm personal touch that Both owners radiate to all their guest they have it right!!!

There are not many restaurant owners locally that come close to the food and a few others can meet the quality of service, so putting it all together can be a challenge that not many can meet or exceed. Tommy and Robbin show their experience in the planning and execution of Shinola.

We enjoyed catching up with both Tommy and Robbin as they were up to their elbows keeping the tables full and the fresh food flowing. Their hands on attitude shows and Doug and I are truly impressed at their energy and commitment through all the challenges they have had in the last few years.

We will be going back again for the Sunday Buffet which was wonderfully done. Hot food in small batches to make sure it is all at its prime when it is served. The rest of the menu was enticing so I know we will discover some of our favorites just waiting to be ordered.

If you really like Down Home Texas Style cooking head on down to Springtown, south from Decatur on Hwy 51, turn left at the red light on HWY 199 in downtown Springtown about 1 block (sign on the left) to SHINOA TEXAS CAFÉ’. Just let Robbin and Tommy know you read about Shinola here!!!
